Apologies for the delay in beginning these posts. I had several sudden and destabilizing life changes occur at the end of March. Getting settled took precedence, but I’m back. Enjoy the first free installment of Fragments.
Every morning, once I crawl out of bed and splash water on my face, I walk into my living room and raise my curtains, letting the sunlight flow into the room like an easy tide kissing the shore's edge. I stand in it for a minute or two, allowing it to warm me, envelop me, and raise my spirits for the day ahead.
Rituals are fluid and, at times, demanding—and mine have certainly changed much over the years. At one point, I drank a smoothie every day. At another, I would do power yoga before a long walk into my office. Mornings are less productive now. Instead, I like to sit, in the sun, with my coffee and ponder the day ahead. What do I hope will happen? What are my plans? How will I achieve them? How will I find joy?
I get this habit from Muss, my great-grandmother. Her first stop was by the windows every morning to let the light in. I asked her once why she did this so devoutly. “The sun is good for your soul. It let the light in.”
Indeed, it does.
Letting The Light In
I love this! I too share a similar ritual these days where I like to slowly start my mornings with sunlight exposure, a still mind and anything that raises my vibe.
Thank you for this. I too am a sunlight soaker in the morning and it is exactly what I need to ground in so I am ready to reach out.
