Welcome to the very first edition of THE EDIT! I’m so excited to get started on this fun addition to Make It Make Sense. It feels like a natural progression to the extensive, biweekly explainers but way more fun.
Alright, let’s get this shit.
The 6-cup Oster rice cooker ($24 at Target): Until January 28th at roughly 8:03 PM, I didn’t own a rice cooker. My boyfriend convinced me to get one after I told him that I cook rice in my Instant Pot, which is a lot of hassle for 3 cups of rice. I thought I’d have to buy a really expensive one a la Wirecutter for it to work, but I was wrong! This cheap one is perfect. I’ve used it to cook long grain, short grain, basmati, cauliflower rice, and farro. You do have to watch it because it will burn the rice on the bottom sometimes—oh, shut up, it’s $24—but overall, this is a 9/10 purchase.
Glossier’s Moon Mask ($22 at Glossier): I’ve tried a lot of face masks, and most of them suck. But this one? Picasso. I love that it’s just moisturizing. It doesn’t exfoliate, tighten, or address any broader skin concerns, except for a small dose of licorice root extract. Instead, the mask is formulated with moisturizing heavyweights dimethicone, urea, shea butter, and a few others to give your skin a megadose of hydration. And, as a retinol girlie, that is all I want and need. (If you click my link above, you’ll get 10% off your first Glossier purchase.)
Illiyoon’s Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream ($23.99 at oo35mm): I have really dry skin if it isn’t clear by now. I bought this moisturizer by mistake when I grabbed sunscreen from oo35mm, an NYC-based K-beauty skincare sanctuary. The product is very rich and feels decadent as you rub it in. A little goes a long way here. So if you have dry skin, love products that work and last a long time, buy it.
